The Core Teachings Of Coward Baptist Church

By Thomas Murray

Christianity started over two thousand years ago in Jerusalem, Israel. It started with only a few followers. However, presently it has billions of followers. The first church at Jerusalem managed to take Christianity far and wide. The Great Commission of Christianity instructs believers to take the gospel to all the four corners of the world. It is only after that has been done that the end will come. Catholicism is the biggest Christian denomination. The second biggest is Protestantism. The Southern Baptist movement is a Protestant movement. The Coward Baptist Church is Protestant in every sense and respect.

Bible belief is not a luxury in Christianity. It is a basic need. The importance of the Bible must never be taken for granted. Instead, Scripture should be given the seriousness that it deserves. All the teachings of a true Baptist church will be derived directly from the Holy Bible. Scripture should be at the heart and center of a church.

The Holy Bible was written thousands of years ago. However, it is still relevant in the present day world. That is the plain truth. It is the ultimate reality that most Baptists are aware of. Scripture is always fresh. It has a lot to say about the current human condition although it was not written in this day and age.

Churches usually teach about love. Christians need to love their neighbors as they love themselves. A believer should not only love the people who love him. He should also love those who hate him. That is the meaning of true love. All the commandments that were handed down to Moses can be summarized into one word; love. It is all about love.

Churches also teach about morality. The Ten Commandments deal with issues of morality. They offer a moral compass to Christians. A moral life is the best life that a person can live in the present day world. Such a life guarantees a good life on planet earth and an even greater eternal life. Actually, heaven is real. It is a physical place.

A society that is bankrupt of morality will not last for long. It will eventually crumble. Sin came to the world and humanity sank into a pit of sinfulness. Since the first humans sinned, the human condition has not been pleasant. There is a lot of suffering on earth because of the sinful condition of humanity. Sin is forgivable.

This is actually the age of grace. That means that sins can be forgiven. All that one has to do is to repent of all his sins. Repentance is not the end of the road. A person should also take the step of being baptized. This will mark the start of a righteous life. One needs to live a life worthy of the baptism.

The Christian life is a journey. The Christian journey ends in heaven. Christians should always look up and not down. Like any life journey, the Christian journey has its fair of challenges. By persisting in prayer, it will be possible to conquer all these challenges. Christians need to pray without ceasing. They should also fast on a regular basis.
