Color Meditation One Of The Best Ways To Focus Your Mind And Heal Your Body

By Robert Stevens

There is more and more scientific evidence to support what enthusiasts of yoga, meditating, and other forms of channeling mind body energy have long believed. These exercises are good for you, both mentally and physically. There even seems to be some evidence that meditating can reduce the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. Color meditation involves concentrating on the colors of Chakra to improve the mind body connection.

This form of meditating is based on the seven Chakras of the Hindu religion and the colors that relate to them. Chakras, as energy sources, are also found in Buddhism and Jainism. The seven Hindu Chakras run from the bottom of your spine to the top of your head. When you meditate correctly, focusing on one or more Chakras and the colors associated with them, your body, mind, and spirit come into balance.

The base of the spine houses the root Chakra. Red is associated with it and represents the individual's life force. Focusing on it rids you of frustration and anger. The root Chakra stimulates the mind and body. It increases circulation. The sacral Chakra is found in the vicinity of your naval. This Chakra stimulates the nervous system and is associated with creativity and physical attraction. Orange is the color assigned to it.

Just beneath your breastbone is the yellow solar plexus Chakra. It signifies vitality and mental acuity. Focusing on the yellow Chakra gives you a sense of happiness and optimism. It improves analytical thought. The heart Chakra is associated with green. This is your healing Chakra found right in the middle of your chest. Concentrating your attention on green increases a sense of love and peace.

Blue represents the throat Chakra, and that is where you will find it. Meditating on blue increases confidence and self-expression. Indigo is the tone of the third eye Chakra. It's found in the middle of your forehead. Concentrating on indigo gives you peace of mind. Finally, the crown Chakra located at the very top of your head is represented by violet. Violet is the color of universal consciousness.

Most experts recommend newcomers to this form of meditating to start off slowly. You can get more benefits from your first efforts if you concentrate on one color instead of several. Consider the things in your life that you have concerns about. Focusing on red when you are in a troubling relationship is an example. For those with physical issues, concentrate on the area of your troubles and the Chakra color that presides over it.

To meditate on all the colors, you have to begin by creating a vision of golden light above you. As it descends and permeates your entire body, you start to relax and only then can you begin to focus on each individual Chakra. Begin with the red root Chakra, and move to the top of the skull.

Meditating can be transforming, and it is free for anyone to try. You have to keep an open mind and remove the thoughts of the day. Once you begin to form the colors in your mind, you will be amazed by the energy they unleash.
